Week On The Web: 20 November 2022

The internet can be an overwhelming place at times. There is just so much content and it can be difficult to know what media to pay attention to and what to stay away from. I hope to share some links to content that I found interesting during the previous week, content that provoked me to deeper levels of thought and engagement.

Please note that none of these links serves as endorsements of contributors. I hate that I have to say that, but I do. You can be provoked to deeper thought - and you usually are - by someone you don’t agree with.

How to Help Your Teen Boy Become A Young Man by The Dad Dude

My friend, Terran, outlines a plan for an initiation trip for a young boy entering his teen years. As a dad who is busy working on just such a trip for my son, I found this practical and helpful.

The Power of Neighborhoods

You may well choose your friends and even your enemies, but God chooses your neighbors. A great read reminding you of how we are shaped by our living environments and how we can help to shape them for the better.

A Warning To The Church Not By Eric Metaxas But Against Him

I wish this sort of thing didn’t have to be written and I thought long and hard about sharing it, but I have already had a few people try to promote Metaxas’ line of thinking which suggests that US pastors who don’t back Trump are like German pastors who ended up supporting the Nazi’s. The irony that Metaxas uses Bonhoeffer as his example seems lost on him. It isn’t on me.

How About Someone Who Actually Fought Nazi’s?

Just a great story of a 97-year old D-Day veteran who parachuted in to Normandy in remembrance of when he did it under fire in 1944. Some men are just made of different stuff.
